IBM watsonx Data & AI Engineer

IOTA deploys IBM watsonx inside the customer's perimeter — on-premises, in the customer's own data centre, on hardware they own. As watsonx Data & AI Engineer you are the person who makes it actually run.

You install, configure, integrate and tune watsonx.data Premium and watsonx.ai on IBM Power 10, and you keep them running after the architect has moved on. Much of the work is hands-on and on client sites, inside change windows, in environments where nothing reaches the internet.

What you'll do

• Install and configure watsonx.data Premium and watsonx.ai on IBM Power 10, including offline and fully air-gapped installations
• Stand up and operate Core, Common Core Services and the Control Plane, and integrate them with the customer's identity and access management
• Configure Data Governance and Catalog — connections, classification, lineage capture, policies and stewardship workflows
• Build and publish data products in Data Product Hub
• Deploy, tune and troubleshoot Presto C++ — workers, memory, caching, connectors and the queries that will not finish
• Build Data Integration and DataStage jobs: ingestion, transformation, scheduling, restartability and error handling
• Execute cloud-to-on-premises migrations — move the data, rebuild the pipelines, reconcile the output and prove it matches
• Work through hardening, firewall rules, certificates and change approvals with the customer's infrastructure and security teams
• Hand over properly: runbooks, documented configuration, and an operations team that can run what you left behind

What we're looking for

• Hands-on experience installing and operating IBM watsonx.data and watsonx.ai, ideally watsonx.data Premium
• Working knowledge of Core, Common Core Services and Control Plane administration
• Presto or Presto C++ — deployment, tuning and debugging under real workloads
• Data Integration and IBM DataStage job development and operations
• Data Governance and Catalog configuration, and Data Product Hub
• Strong Linux fundamentals, networking, TLS and certificates; comfort with firewalls, proxies and access control
• IBM Power 10 or Linux on Power, and what changes when the architecture is not x86
• Containers and orchestration — Docker, Kubernetes or OpenShift — including offline and private-registry deployments
• The temperament for client sites: calm inside a change window, clear with the people whose systems you are touching
• Based in or willing to relocate to Riyadh; eligible to work in Saudi Arabia
• Professional English; Arabic is an advantage

Nice to have

• Apache Iceberg and open table formats, on-premises object storage
• Prior deployments inside banks, government or other regulated estates
• Scripting and automation — Ansible, Terraform, Bash, Python
• GPU environments for model serving on Power
• IBM certification on watsonx or Cloud Pak for Data
